3M 1600T Double-Sided Polyethylene Foam Tape
3M 1600T / 1600TG is constructed with high-density EPE polyethylene foam and coated on both sides with a high-performance acrylic adhesive system. It delivers excellent initial tack, long-term holding power, and outstanding shear resistance, making it ideal for bonding plastics, metals, wood, glass, and other demanding substrates.
Designed for long-term performance, the tape maintains reliable adhesion even under high temperatures, vibration, humidity, and harsh industrial environments, without edge lifting, peeling, or adhesive failure.
The high-density foam structure provides excellent cushioning, shock absorption, and gap-filling capability, helping compensate for surface irregularities while improving bonding stability. Combined with a premium release liner, the tape supports smooth die-cutting and easy processing for efficient installation.
Simply peel and apply — no drilling, screws, or mechanical fasteners required.
Key Features
- High-Performance Acrylic Adhesive System
Provides aggressive initial adhesion and durable long-term bonding performance. Delivers reliable adhesion to plastics, metals, painted surfaces, and other low-surface-energy materials where conventional tapes often fail. - High-Density EPE Foam Backing
Offers strong load-bearing performance, excellent peel resistance, and high tensile strength for stable long-term use without deformation or loosening. - Shock Absorption & Gap Filling
The foam core effectively absorbs vibration and external impact while conforming to slightly uneven or curved surfaces for improved bonding consistency. - Clean & Efficient Installation
Peel-and-stick application simplifies assembly processes while eliminating the need for drilling or mechanical fastening, helping achieve a cleaner and more efficient installation process. - Versatile Multi-Industry Applications
Suitable for automotive trim attachment, appliance assembly, nameplate mounting, interior decoration, signage installation, and industrial component bonding.
Bonding & Curing Performance
The adhesive system naturally cures at room temperature, with bond strength gradually increasing over time:
- 20 minutes: approximately 50% of ultimate bond strength
- 24 hours: approximately 90% of ultimate bond strength
- 72 hours: full bonding strength achieved
Moderate heating up to 66°C can accelerate adhesive wet-out and curing performance, further enhancing final bond strength.
